Arellia Solutions can leverage AD information but do not require AD.

Question:

How can "legacy" applications be managed?

Answer:

Arellia Application Control Solution (ACS) allows legacy applications to be managed in several ways.  First, for applications requiring administrative rights to run, ACS allows the user to have a User level account, not Administrator, and ACS can elevate the privileges on just that process so that the application will run properly.  All other processes unless ACS is given a policy to elevate other processes will run in the User level context.  Second, applications can be forced to run in virtual layers which prevents conflicts with other applications including different versions of the same application.

Question:

Which Arellia Solutions will be supported at the release of SMP 7.1?

Answer:

All Solutions will be supported at the release of SMP 7.1 or very shortly thereafter.

Question:

How does ACS handle ActiveX controls?

Answer:

ActiveX controls are handled by ACS.  For Users which do not have rights to install ActiveX controls ACS can elevate the process to allow the installation of ActiveX controls.
