To create a file scanning policy
- In the Symantec Management Console, on the Manage menu, click Policies
- In the left pane, select Go to Arellia Security Manager and click on the Policies tab
- Select Policies > Arellia > File Inventory > File Scanning Policies > New Policies
- Right-click on File Scanning Policies and select New > File Scanning Policy
In the right pane, specify settings for the following fields.
Item | Description |

Name | The name of the policy. |
Description | A description of the policy. |
Applies to Apply To | The collection of computers the policy applies to. |
Interval | Specify how often the policy runs. |
File Specification(s) | Specify which files should be scanned by the policy. |
Reporting Filter(s) | Refines the search to which files to report when scanned. by the policy. |
Per file delay (ms) | Specify a time (in milliseconds) to wait between processing files. |
