Application Initiation Policy
NOTE: With the version 7.1 release standard Application Control and Application Initiation policies have been combined. Now whether you need application elevation or UAC suppression, simply pick the Blank Application Control Policy.
An Application Initiation policy allows for the processing of security context actions before an application has been launched. This allows for the bypass of Windows Vista UAC prompts.
An Application Initiation policy is similar to an Application Control policy but it only allows for the selection of Process Rights actions.
To create an Application Initiation policies:
- In the Symantec Management Console, on the Home menu, click Arellia > Application Control
- In the left pane, select Policies > Application Control > Application Control Tasks > Application Control Policies
- In the left pane, right-click Application Control Policies, select New > Blank Application Initiation Policy
In the right pane, specify settings for the following fields:
Item | Description |

Name | The name of the policy. |
Description | A description of the policy. |
Enable | Enable the policy using the On/Off toggle. |
Application | Select applications to apply the policy to. Example: Instant Messaging Applications. |
Include | Choose items to specifically include. Example: Common Windows Directories. |
Exclude | Choose items to specifically exclude. Example: Present in Signed Security Catalog. |
Applications | Choose to take No action on an application, or an Application action from the available options to assign rights and set rules. |
Send policy feedback | Select to report data back on the policy actions. |
Policy priority | Specify a policy running order in regard to other policies that might also be running on a managed computer. |
Apply to | The collection of computers the policy applies to. |
Save changes | Click to save changes. |
Cancel | Click to discard changes. |
