The upgrade from Arellia 8.0 to 8.1 is extremely easy. The server is upgraded through the Arellia Management Server and the agents are upgraded by deploying the latest agent MSI files.

Microsoft SQL Server 2014
We have added support for SQL Server 2014 in Arellia 8.1. As part of this work we have upgraded the version of Microsoft SQLServer Data-Tier Application Framework (DACFx)

that we use from 11.1 to 12.0.
New installs of 8.1 will automatically install DACFx 12.0 as part of the Web Platform Installation.
In-place upgrades will require the installation of the DACFx (June 2014) package from the Microsoft Web Platform Installer feed before running the upgrade steps below.

Server Upgrade
- Open http://localhost/Ams/Setup on the server or http://serverName<ServerName>/Ams/Setup on a remote computerSelect the Setup tab and then click
- Click on the Upgrade button for the Arellia Management Server Core Solution
- After the upgrade on the Arellia Management Server has completed, the first step of the Arellia Management Server upgrade has completed.
- Click on the Installed Products tab
- Then click on the Upgrade button for the Arellia Management Server Core Solution to complete the second step of the Arellia Management Server Core Solution
- Note: If the repair fails because of this error "Could not find object 'Ams.Agent.Registration' or you do not have permission." or "Failed to deploy package" then you need to run the Repair one more time.
- After the second step of the Arellia Management Server Core Solution has completed, Solution and then click on the Start button to being the upgrade
- Click on the Accept button to accept the Arellia Corporation End User Licence Agreement
- The upgrade will start and run for 5-10 minutes. You can click on Show Install Log to track its progress.
- Once completed you can click on the Setup tab to select the solutions to be upgraded
- After the solutions have been upgraded, the server side upgrade to Arellia 8.1 is complete
