This document tells you how to complete the Arellia Management Server (AMS) installation if your target machine is connected to the internet.
If your target machine is not connected to the Internet, then go to Offline Installation for installation instructions.
Install Microsoft Web Platform Installer
After you have reviewed and followed the instructions in both Server Requirements and Database Requirements, install Microsoft Web Platform Installer (Web PI) by doing the following steps:
Open Web PI and click Options in the bottom right corner of the window.
Note title Important You must open the Options menu directly in the Web PI, not from the Internet Information Services (IIS) (see Error saving Web Platform Settings in IIS
- Leave the Primary Feed as default.

In the Change Options dialog box, in the Customer Feeds field, type http://nuget.arellia.com/WebPlatformFeed and and then click the the Add Feed button.
Tip Steps 4 and 5 are only required title Note Note The following steps 3 and 4 are required only if you want the Web Platform Installer PI to setup set up the SQL database and login. They are not required if your database has already been created and provisioned with a SQL login. If you do enable remote database support, then the Web Platform Installer PI will require your SQL server sa Server System Administrator (SA) account password to proceed.
- (This step is optional) Check the '.) Under Remote Database support, select the Click to enable remote database support' option option if you want the Web Platform Installer PI to provision your database configuration.
- (This step is optional) Enter .) In the Remote database server name field, enter the name of your SQL server in the Remote database server name. If the SQL server is local you can use localhostServer. ( Note: If your SQL Server is local, then enter localhost.)
- Close the Change Options dialog box by clicking clicking OK.
- Then close Close the Web Platform InstallerPI.
- Open the Internet Information Server (IIS). In the left tree, navigate to the the IIS Manager.
- In the IIS Manager, in the left sidebar directory, click Default Web Site.

Arellia Management Server installation options
There are 2 options for completing the installation.
If you do not have access to your SQL server (for example your SQL infrastructure is run by a DBA team) or your ArelliaAms database already exists follow option #1. Visit the Database Requirements page for instructions on how to create the necessary SQL database.
Otherwise have your sa database account credentials you can follow option #2.

Option 1: Database is already configured
- Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
- Select the Default Web Site, open the Web Platform Installer and go to the Arellia tab.
- Select Arellia Management Server and Arellia Diagnostics (this contains the Arellia Monitor log viewer).
- Click the Install button. This action opens the Web Platform Installer Prerequisites dialog and lists all components that are to be installed.
- To begin the Installation, click the I Agree button.
- If Web Platform Installer discovers any missing prerequisites they will be included in the installation.

If your SQL database has already been created
If your SQL database has already been created, then click the following link to proceed with the steps.

Option 2: Database needs to be created

15. The Web PI Configure screen will appear. Configure the AMS application and then click Continue.
16. Web PI will show you the installation progress.
17. When the installation is complete, click Finish.
18. Next, the Arellia Management Server needs to be pointed at the existing database. This can be done by:
Login to the Arellia Management Server Setup Console (http://localhost/Ams/)
Tip title Note The Web Platform Installer takes you automatically to the database setup page, but if it did not, then navigate to https://localhost/Ams/Setup/Database/ConnectDatabase/
- In the SQL Server field, enter the FQDN of the database server.
- In the Database Name field, enter the database name Arellia should use.
- In the User name and Password fields, enter the database owner credentials.
Click Next.
The database will then be configured and Arellia products can then be installed.
If you need to create the SQL database
If you have access to the SQL Server SA credentials and you want to create the database automatically, then then click the following link to proceed with the steps.

12. Click the Install button.
13. In the SQL Prerequisites dialog box that opens, select your remote SQL Server from the What type of database would you like to use menu.
