Inventory Policy page

The Default File Inventory Policy discovers Inventory Policy discovers information about software programs running on managed computers.  By default, this runs daily.

To manually run the File Inventory Policy on a managed computer at any time, perform the following steps:

  • Enable Power Management on the Altiris Agent. For instructions, see Notification

  • Server Help.
  • On any grid listing managed computers, a report, collection, or Resource Manager, right-click the computer name.
  • Select File Inventory > File Inventory Policy > Run File Inventory.

The following table describes the items in the policy page.

Item

Description

Enable

Select to enable the policy using On/Off toggle.

Name

Name of the policy.

Description

Description of the policy.

Applies to

Select the collection this policy applies to.

Interval

Select the time period between each running of the policy.

File Specification(s)

Specify what files are reported to the Notification Server and click OK.

Priority

Enter a policy priority to determine the policy's order in relation to other policies. Priority 1 is the highest and will run first.

Per file delay

Specify the number of milliseconds between processing individual files.

Apply to

Select the collection this policy applies to.

To create a new File Inventory Agent Configuration policy

  • Once you are in Arellia select the Configuration tab

  • Select Settings > Agents/Plug-ins > Arellia > File Inventory >

  • Settings > Default File Inventory Policy
  • In the left pane, right-click Default File

  • Name the cloned policy and select OK.
