Design
The AMS server is comprised of Thycotic Management Server (TMS) runs on Windows-based servers. It comprises a number of extensible .NET components that run on Internet Information Server Services (IIS), along with agent components that install as a service on the managed computers.
The server utilizes Microsoft SQL Server as a database. You can either install it locally on the AMS server TMS or remotely (off-box).

Setup
We recommend you install the TMS on a dedicated a server for AMS to use, rather than sharing with other services. However, depending on your load, it the TMS will function without issues in a small or test environments as long as the prerequisites are met and do not conflict with other services on the server.
Installation Order
- Setup the Arellia Management Server
- Setup Microsoft SQL Server
- Setup Internet Information Server (IIS)
Info icon false If you install the Web Platform Installer before you install the IIS, the Web Platfrom Installer will NOT be available on your Internet Information Server (IIS).
Interacting with the Server
Once the server is installed, most work can be performed from your desktop browser without the need to remotely access the server console, including
Knowing what needs to be installed on the server is critical. Install the following components in order:
- SQL Database (if used locally)
- IIS
- Microsoft Web Platform Installer
- AMS

Interacting with the server
After you install the server you can perform most work, such as setting up the database and installing products on the AMS server.
