Manual Security Ratings are generally not used, but are included for backward compatibility with ACS 6.1. Typically combinations of Reference System whitelists, Package Contents whitelists and trust based Dynamic Filters are used instead of manual Security Ratings. |
Application Control Solution (ACS) lets you rate all discovered applications. You can add them to rate executables as Blacklist, WhitelistOrangelist, or Graylist collections, which Unclassified or Whitelist which automatically adds them to the appropriate collections. These manual security rating collections can be used for filtering when creating Application Control policies.
To rate an application's security
- In the Altiris Console, click the Tasks tab.
- In the left pane, select Tasks > Security Management > Application Control >
Windows > Manage Applications. - In the right pane:
- Select an application in the list and click the appropriate icon in the toolbar, or
- Right-click an application in the list and select Security Rating > Black List, or Grey List, or Unclassified, or White List.

- Once you are in Arellia select the Policies tab
- Select Arellia > Application Control > Filters > Inventory Filters > Security Rated
To rate an application's security, do the following:
- Anyway where a file is listed in a report you can right-click the file you want to manage and alter its manual security rating by selecting the menu options: Security Rated > Blacklist, Orangelist, Unclassified, or Whitelist.
