This document contains information about upgrading the Arellia Management Server (AMS) from a previous version to the current version.

Required Components

If you upgrade to the latest version of AMS, then you must first upgrade Microsoft SQL Server Data Tier Application Framework (DACFx) to June 2014 or later. Failure to do so may result in installation errors (see Upgrade Arellia Management Server below).

The framework consists of the following components which must be installed in order:

Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Transact-SQL ScriptDom

Microsoft System CLR Types for Microsoft SQL Server 2014 (x86)

Microsoft System CLR Types for Microsoft SQL Server 2014 (x64)

Microsoft SQL Server Data-Tier Application Framework (DACFx) for x64 (June 2014)

Microsoft SQL Server Data-Tier Application Framework (DACFx) for x86 (June 2014)

To automate the installation of the DACFx (June 2014) package you can download and run this PowerShell script on your internet connected AMS instance.

To see instructions for offline upgrades of the AMS instance, go to Upgrading an AMS instance that is not Internet connected.

On your Arellia Management Server:

  1. Open a browser to  http://localhost/Ams/Setup
  2. Click the Setup link.
  3. Select the packages to upgrade and click Install.
  4. After the AMS product installations have completed you will guided back to the console.
