File inventory filters
A file inventory filter defines the applications (groups of files) that can be restricted by a file control policy, and the applications (groups of files) that can be restricted by an Application Control Policy.
To access file inventory filters:
- Once you are in Arellia > Application Control select the Policies tab
- Select Application Control > Filters > File Filters
There are five types of filters:
- Drive Type - These filters check the type of drive an application is executed from.
- Executable Headers - These filters check the characteristics of executable headers. The filters cannot be modified and new ones cannot be created.
- File Specifications - These filters specify which files are reported to the Notification Server. Example: Executables in Windows Directories.
- File Types - These filters check for specified file types. Example: .exe.
- Security Catalogs - These filters check if a specified file exists in a signed security catalog (.cat).
Note:
We recommend using the Application Control Wizard to create policies and to associate actions, filters, and target computers.
