Passwords not randomizing on the correct interval (or at all)

Problem:

Password randomization has failed to change the password on one or more machines.

Solution:

If the Agent Logs and/or Server Logs are showing errors similar to this:

Description: Unable to complete RequestPasswordChangeAuthority 

( Exception Details: Altiris.NS.Exceptions.AeXException: Unable to discover user resource for Local User Key 500 {12345678-90ab-cdef-1234-567890abcdef}.  Aborting RequestPasswordChangeAuthority
   at Arellia.SMP.LocalSecurity.LocalUserPassword.RequestPasswordChangeAuthority(Guid computerGuid, Int32 userRid, String userPassword) )

Then duplicate user resources could be preventing randomization from running successfully.

Arellia 7.1 and above

Make sure the resource purging task is enabled under Configuration > Arellia > Local Security > Windows > Resource Purging.

If that resource purging task has been executed and the issue still persists, download and import this resource purging task: Resource Purging task for 7.0 and 7.1

Arellia 6.x

Make sure the resource purging task is enabled under Configure > Solutions > Local Security > Windows > Resource Purging..

If that resource purging task is running and the issue still persists, then download and import this resource purging task: Resource Purging task for 6.x
