Installing DSS for use with ACS 7.x

Issue

When installing DSS (Directory Services Solution) through SIM, the installation fails and logs an error message saying a required component is not installed.

Resolution

DSS requires that the CM (Credential Manager) component be installed.  Since this is a Symantec component it needs to be installed through the Symantec PL (Product Listing) file.  As it is not a separately installable component a solution which does use it needs to be installed.  One solution which does include CM is the Altiris Pluggable Protocol Architecture (PPA) Solution.

Simply select and install the solution below and the CM component will be installed and DSS will then be able to be installed correctly.  Note:  The latest version of PPA Solution should generally be the version selected.
