Overview

Arellia Support and Development teams have seen SQL Server database contention issues related to creation of new resources in both the field and test systems that are extremely significant in nature.  This affects Symantec Management Platform 7.0 SP4.

Resolution

Update:  SMP 7.0 SP 5 and later have this fix and it has proven to have a substantial impact in reducing processor activity and SQL deadlocking.  Please update to SP 5 or later as a first step.  Note:  Some solutions may not update or support SP5 or later.  Please contact Symantec regarding the appropriate update method for all of your non-Arellia solutions.

Deprecated:  Symantec have addressed this issue in a hotfix related to a SQL Server stored procedure present in SMP 7.0 SP4 named 'trgSpcopeUpdateTargetInvalidate'.  This update is presently only available by contacting your Symantec support representative.
