Using Computer List Filters instead of Resource Filters for Arellia Products

Problem

A policy applied to a set of systems inside a resource filter gets applied to more computers than what is defined in the resource filter. This is a known issue for Arellia 7.1 SP1 to SP3. The recommended solution applies to all products.

Solution

Instead of setting a policies target to a resource filter, use the computer list instead to ensure a policy is applied as expected.

1. Select Apply To > Computers for the Policy
   
2. Set the filter to Exclude Results Not In, and change the target to Computers
   
3. Click "Select" and then specify the computers this policy should apply to
   
4. Save the apply to target and then save the policy
