Error: Saving Web Platform Settings in IIS

Issue

When trying to save the Web Platform Installer version 5 options in IIS, you receive the following error:

"Error writing to preferences: System.NullReferenceException:Object reference not set to an instance of an object.atMicrosoft.Web.PlatformInstaller.UI.PreferencesPage.WritePreferences()."

Solutions

Do one of the following solutions.

Solution 1

Close out of IIS and open the standalone Web Platform Installer from the Start menu. Open the Options menu and save the settings.

Solution 2

Run this PowerShell script to interactively configure the custom feed used by Web Platform Installer.
