How to install Arellia version 7 products - Symantec Installation Manager

You use Symantec Installation Manager to install Symantec Management Platform 7.0/7.1 and all of the products that run on the platform. You also use Symantec Installation Manager to install updates, apply licenses, and repair installations. For Symantec Installation Manager to install Arellia version 7.x products it must be configured to utilise an Arellia Product Listing.

Configuring Symantec Installation Manager

Run the Symantec Installation Manager. Generally it will open in the Installed Product page and you then click the Settings button to get to the page below.  If SIM opens in the Install New Products page or another page click Cancel and click Yes to cancel whichever wizard is running.  Then you should be back on the Installed Product page and you can continue to Settings:

 
 
Click on the "Change Product Listing" button.
 

 
We need to add an Arellia Product Listing by clicking on add:

  • Please Note:  SIM recognizes the difference between 7.0 and 7.1 SMP platform installs and selects the correct solutions for the platform.  The Arellia default Product Listing (which is the address given below) contains both the 7.0 and 7.1 released versions of all the Arellia solutions.
  • Set Path to http://www.arellia.com/software/7/Arellia.pl.xml or if you have downloaded the pl.xml file you can browse to it in the file system on the computer by clicking the Browse button.
  • Click OK.

Arellia Products will now be present in the Install New Products section of Symantec Installation Manager.

Note:  When you select one of the Products (ACS, LSS, or SAS) other base component solutions (which are required for ACS, LSS, or SAS to function) will be automatically selected.  SIM should inform you of this automatically.

Licensing

If a license is from Arellia (typically a demo or trial license; but also may be a production/full license) SIM cannot be used to install these license(s): please see Trial or Evaluation Licensing for Arellia Products.
