Policies are sets of criteria or operations that are applied to resources; policies typically reside in the Policies Tab of the Security Manager Console. (For more information about policies, go to Policies.)
Local Security policies secure privileged users, groups, and applications, disclose passwords, and inventories items and accounts.
The documentation contained in this section provides details about the policies and resources available in the Local Security Solution.
This section describes the out-of-the-box policies and tasks available in Local Security Solution 8.1. The policies reference specific commands, and when you activate those policies, they get downloaded to the clients and are executed according to the schedule you set in the policy. Alternatively you can set a corresponding task for the policy to run on-demand.
To get to the policies, do the following steps:
- In the Arellia Security Manager, click the Policies tab.
- In the file library in the left pane, navigate to Arellia Solutions > Local Security > Policies.
To get to the tasks, do the following steps:
- In the Arellia Security Manager, click the Tasks tab.
- In the file library in the left pane, navigate to Jobs and Tasks > .
This document shows you how to create a policy.
To create a policy, do the following steps:
- In the Arellia Security Manager, click the Policies tab.
- In the file library in the left pane, navigate to Arellia Solutions > Local Security > Policies.
- Choose the policy you want to create. (The following example is the COM Inventory Policy.)
- In the right pane under Settings next to Client Command, click the link.
- In the Select Item dialog box, click the target Client Command.
- Click OK.
Schedules
- Under Schedules, click New Schedule.
- In the New Trigger dialog box, click the Begin menu and choose a trigger for the policy to run.
- Choose Settings and Advanced Settings.
- Click OK.
Applied To
- Under Applied To, click Apply To.
- Click either Existing target or Computers.
- Choose targets to apply the policy to.
- Click Save.
