Issue
How to identify and remove or move licenses
Action(s)
SMP 7
- Use the utility provided with the SMP to delete certificates from a list showing the solution name and expiration date and count.
- Find details at Symantec - http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO9437
- Note: The RemoveLicense.exe may throw an error [saying a certificate with an unknow root certificate has been detected] if an Arellia generated license is in the Altiris Licensing folder. If this is the case, move the Arellia license to the Arellia Licensing folder via the MMC.
- If there are issues with this method then using the Certificates snap-in in the MMC will work to find and delete or move the certificate
- The biggest issue is identifying the specific certificate if there are a lot of certificates loaded. Searching by name isn't an option.
- To idenfity the correct certificate it will be necessary usually to look by Expiration Date and open each certificate which has the expiration date that could identify the Arellia solution certificate.
- Then right-click and open the certificate to make sure which solution it applies to. See the next screen shot for the details.
- Now go to the Details tab, then scroll down to the item "1.2.34.81870297.1.1" as highlighted below and click on it and then in the bottom box (also as highlighted) the name of the solution will be shown.
- When the correct license is found simply right-click on it and select delete or cut. Then, if cut, the license may be pasted into another folder as required.
NS 6
- Use the Symantec utility from the KB to delete licenses.
- If there is an issue with that see the above details on using the MMC
