There are two approaches to file inventory:

  1. Discover only applications that application control policies are evaluated against
  2. Scan all of the files on a computer

By default, neither of these approaches is turned on when Arellia Application Control Solution is installed.

Configure File Inventory of Applications from Application Control

To configure the file inventory of Applications from Application Control, do the following steps:

  1. In the Security Manager Console, click the Policies tab.
  2. In the file library in the left pane, navigate to Policies > Arellia Solutions > File Inventory > Policies > Default File Inventory Policy.
  3. Right-click the policy and enable it.

File details will now be sent to the server for applications that application control policies are evaluated against.

Configure File Scanning of a Computer

  1. In the file library in the left pane, navigate to Policies > Arellia Solutions > File Inventory > Policies.
  2. Right-click the Policies folder and click New > General Scheduled Client Task.
  3. In the Create Item dialog box, enter a Name and Description.
  4. Click OK.

  5. Click the Client Command Id and set it to File Scan Command.
  6. Click Save.
  7. In the Settings in the right pane, identify where to scan for files (which can be just the Windows directories or the entire disk).
  8. Click New Schedule to configure a schedule for how often it should scan for files.
