Phase 1 of Installation
Installing the Web Platform Installer (if ALL Prerequisites are Installed)
- Open the Internet Information Server (IIS). In the left tree, navigate to the Default Web Site.
- From the Default Web Site, select Web Platform Installer.
- IMPORTANT: You must open the Web Platform Installer from within IIS Manager. The stand-alone Web Platform Installer does not include 64-bit support and will fail during the installation process.
- After the Web Platform Installer opens, click on Options (at the bottom of the dialog). This action opens the Change Options dialog.
- Leave the Primary Feed as default.
To the Custom Feed, type in: http://nuget.arellia.com/WebPlatformFeed. Select the Add Feed button.
Optional Steps
Steps 7 and 8 are only required if you want Web Platform Installer to setup the SQL database and login. They are not required if your database has already been created and provisioned with a SQL login. If you do enable remote database support Web Platform Installer will require your SQL server sa account password to proceed.
- (optional) Check the 'enable remote database support' option if you want the Web Platform Installer to provision your database configuration.
- (optional) Enter the name of your SQL server in the Remote database server name. If the SQL server is local you can use localhost
- Close the Change Options dialog by clicking OK. This action loads the Web Platform Installer.
Arellia Management Server installation options
There are 2 options for completing the installation.
If you do not have access to your SQL server (for example your SQL infrastructure is run by a DBA team) or your ArelliaAms database already exists follow option #1. Visit the Database Requirements page for instructions on how to create the necessary SQL database.
Otherwise have your sa database account credentials you can follow option #2.
Before continuing make sure that the database prerequisites have been met (see Database Requirements)
Option 1: Database is already configured
- Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
- Select the Default Web Site, open the Web Platform Installer and go to the Arellia tab.
- Select Arellia Management Server and Arellia Diagnostics (this contains the Arellia Monitor log viewer).
- Click the Install button. This action opens the Web Platform Installer Prerequisites dialog and lists all components that are to be installed.
- To begin the Installation, click the I Agree button.
- If Web Platform Installer discovers any missing prerequisites they will be included in the installation.
- Certain dependencies such as Windows Management Framework or the .NET Framework may require a reboot. In this case you should restart Web Platform Installer via IIS Manager when the reboot has completed.
- After the Web Platform Installer has completed go to the Arellia Administration Console to continue the installation.
Option 2: Database needs to be created
- Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
- Select the Default Web Site, open the Web Platform Installer and go to the Arellia tab.
- Select Arellia Management Server (Database Wizard) and Arellia Diagnostics (this contains the Arellia Monitor log viewer).
- Click the Install button. This action opens the SQL Prerequisites dialog.
- For the database type drop-down select the Remote SQL Server supplied previously.
- Enter the sa account password for the selected SQL server.
- Since this is a one-time process you do not have to save the password.
- Click Continue. This action opens the Web Platform Installer Prerequisites dialog and lists all components that are to be installed.
- If certain prerequisites aren't installed such as certain SQL plugins or WebDeploy 3.5, the Web Platform Installer and IIS will close and you will have to open them both again, and in some cases, a reboot of the computer is required. It is absolutely best to have all of the prerequisites installed beforehand.
- The Web Platform Installer Configure screen appears. Included in the Configure Screen are all options and fields for the database, with all fields already populated. At this time, you can create a new database password for the AMS user. Additionally a Database Name will be created, and later the Database Name, Database User, and Database Password can be randomized. Click Continue. This action installs the Arellia Management Server. A status bar appears, showing how long the installation is taking.
- When the Arellia Management Server is done installing continue to the Arellia Administration Console to finish the install.
