The ActiveX Installer action allows an application, such as Internet Explorer, to enable standard users to install approved ActiveX components.

ActiveX installers actions are used only on Windows XP machines and are reported by the File Inventory "Com Component Inventory" policy, which reports on downloaded ActiveX components.

Create an ActiveX Installer Action

To create an ActiveX installer action, do the following steps:

  1. From the Arellia Security Manager Console go to the Policies tab.
  2. Navigate to Policies / Arellia Solutions / Application Control / Actions.
  3. Right-click ActiveX Installers, click New.
  4. From the Create Item window, you can add a description and select OK.
  5. To Select Resources from Available Resources, click Select on the following Settings:
  • Deny ActiveX components
  • Elevated installation
  • Silent elevated installation

After you have clicked OK, don't forget to Save your newly created ActiveX Action.
