This folder is where all of the custom shims created from the Adjust Application Compatibility wizard are placed. You can also create new Application Compatibility Fix Actions. Application Compatibility Action applies the dynamic application of Microsoft Application Compatibility Shims to the target process. After Analyzing Application Compatibility Testing Logs and creating an elevation policy, a new Application Compatibility Action is created here

To Apply Application Compatibility Fix Actions

  1. From the Arellia Security Manager Console, go the Policies tab.
  2. Navigate to Policies / Arellia Solutions / Application Control / Actions.
  3. Right-click on Application Compatibility, and select New.
  4. Choose Apply Application Compatibility Fix Action.
  5. From the Create New Item window, create a name and description and click OK.
  6. From Settings, select the Standard layer or a Custom layer. If you choose the Custom layer, select Configure.
  7. Configure the Compatibility layer by giving the Custom layer a name, and to add Shims, select the Add button.
  8. From Select Compatibility Shim, scroll through the list of Shims until you find the appropriate shim. Click OK.
  9. The name of the Compatibility Shim appears in the Configure Compatibility Layer window. You can add multiple shims. Click OK.
  10. To apply the Application Compatibility fix that you just created, click Save.
  11. If you select the Standard layer from the Settings window, you will still have to select the Compatibility Layers available. If you scroll to the bottom of this topic, you will see the details of the shim for Windows XP Operating System.

After configuring this action, it can be used in an Elevation Policy taking the place of the "Add Administrator Rights" action and will provide the process for the file and registry permissions that it needs to function properly.
