Policies are sets of criteria or operations that are applied to Computers; policies typically reside in the Policies Tab of the Security Manager Console.

Many policies are scheduled, although some work on data triggers. Some policies are performed on the Arellia Management Server (AMS) itself.

Examples of policies:

  • The Application Control Solution installs a number of application policies to manage privileges
  • There are also a number of server-specific policies in the Infrastructure folder under the Policies Tab of the Security Manager Console

Best Practice: Clone Out-of-Box Policies before Editing

If you need to adjust settings for an out-of-the-box policy that was installed by the AMS or another product, it is best to clone the policy first and make changes to the new copy.
