Installation of SMP service pack can affect replication of Digital Certificates

Problem

During installation of a Symantec Management Platform Service Pack you may notice the following warning message in the logs:

Module: AeXSVC.exe
Source: Altiris.NS.ItemManagement.Item.Save
Description: An imported item 'Digital Certificate(c76fc2a7-85db-4ecb-a055-8cd0d5fc91fd)' has been overridden and the product it belongs to has changed from 'Arellia Common Pack(b409b2ea-d875-4888-9083-ef3c6a26ea52)' to 'Software Management(ad0dd85e-43ca-4af4-a66c-dddcaf8c2f57)', its old name was 'Digital Certificate'

This occurs due to Software Management including a definition for the Digital Certificate resource type. Unfortunately the Software Management definition does not configure replication correctly for Digital Certificates.

Solution

If you require the ability to replicate Digital Certificates throughout your hierarchy you will need to re-import the Arellia definition of the Digital Certificate resource type. This will allow digital certificates to be discovered on your child NS and then relocated to your parent NS for centralised management.
