How to View Managed Password history

Occasionally an administrator may need to disclose a password for a managed user account from a specific point in time. The most common reason for needing to do this is when a machine has been restored from backup.

In this case the current managed password is going to be different from the latest password stored within Local Security, so the administrator will need the ability to view the password history for a managed account.

Local Security Solution provides this information through the use of the Resource Manager console contained within the Arellia Management Server

Step-by-step guide

  1. First you will need to identify the local user account you wish to view and open it within the Resource Manager

  2. Within the Resource Manager select the Data tab, then expand the Event Classes section and select Data Classes > Security Management > Password Change
This will show you each time the password has changed - right click on the change date you are after select Show Historical Password

  3. You will then be presented with the password disclosure screen that will display the randomized password for the specified time.

A historical password disclosure will be logged within Local Security Solution the same way a current password disclosure is logged
