Installation

This chapter details the installation requirements and procedures.

Prerequisites

Symantec Management Platform version 7.1 MP1 or newer must be installed before installing Security Analysis Solution 7.1.  The following system requirements must be met before installing:

  • Windows Server 2008 R2
  • SQL Server 2008
  • 3 GB RAM (minimum); 8-16 GB recommended
  • Other requirements as dictated by the Symantec Management Platform product requirements.

Note: An Internet connection is required.

  • Product is installed from Arellia's Internet servers.
  • SCAP content feed is located on Arellia's Internet servers.
  • SCAP content referenced in Arellia's content feed is downloaded from various locations across the Internet.
Installing Security Analysis Solution

To install Security Analysis Solution:

  • Once SMP 7.1 is installed, open Symantec Installation Manager
    • Click on the Settings button on the top right.
    • Click Change product listing
    • Click Add...
    • Path: http://www.arellia.com/software/7/arellia.pl.xml
    • Ignore remaining fields.
    • Click OK to exit the Add New Product Listing dialog.
    • Click OK to exit the Manage Product Listings dialog.
    • Click OK to exit the Settings dialog.
  • Back on the Installed Products dialog
    • Select Install new products at the top.
    • If prompted to enter your name, address, etc., complete this form and proceed.
    • Select Arellia Security Analysis x64. Other components may be selected as well.
    • Click Next
    • Accept the license agreement by checking the box and click Next
    • Click Install
    • Product will download and install automatically from this point.
    • Once complete, click Finish
    • You should have a trial license show up in the licensing page. You may visit portal.arellia.com to request extended trial licenses if necessary.
    • Click Close to exit from Symantec Installation Manager.
