There are 2 approaches to file inventory. The first is to discover only applications that application control policies are evaluated against. The second is to scan all of the files of a computer. By default, neither approaches are turned on when Arellia Application Control is installed.

To inventory all applications on a computer do the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Policies > Arellia Solutions > File Inventory > Policies 
  2. Navigate to Policies > Arellia Solutions > File Inventory > Policies > Default File Inventory Policy 
  3. Right-click the policy and enable it.
  4. File details will now be sent to the server for applications that application control policies are evaluated against.

 

Configure File Scanning of a Computer

  1. Inventory > Policies. 
  2. Right-click the Policies folder and select New > General Scheduled Client Task  Task.

  3. Click the Client Command Id and set it to File Scan Command Command.


  4. Save the new policy

  5. Configure the filters to use for where Click OK.
  6. Enable and configure the filters used to scan for files, this can be just . (You can create filters to scan only the Windows directories or the entire disk

  7. Click the New Schedule button.

  8. In the New Trigger dialog box, configure a schedule for how often it should scan for files (a week or more should be sufficient).

  9. Click OK.
  10. In the New Scheduled Client Task, click Save.
