There are 2 approaches to file inventory. The first is to discover only applications that application control policies are evaluated against. The second is to scan all of the files of a computer. By default, neither approaches are turned on when Arellia Application Control is installed.

Configure File Inventory of Applications from Application Control

  1. Navigate to Policies > Arellia Solutions > File Inventory > Policies > Default File Inventory Policy
  2. Right-click the policy and enable it.
  3. File details will now be sent to the server for applications that application control policies are evaluated against.

Configure File Scanning of a Computer

  1. Navigate to Policies > Arellia Solutions > File Inventory > Policies
  2. Right-click the Policies folder and select New > General Scheduled Client Task
  3. Click the Client Command Id and set it to File Scan Command
  4. Save the new policy
  5. Configure the filters to use for where to scan for files, this can be just the Windows directories or the entire disk
  6. Configure a schedule for how often it should scan for files (a week or more should be sufficient)
