Here are the details on how to use the Random Password Task

  • Create a new task to randomize the password.  The details are in the screenshot.
  • Just right-click on the Local Security folder and create a new task of the Randomize Local User Account Password type.
  • Then make any changes desired to the options and the "Save Changes" button will be active.
  • Then right-click on that task in the left-hand tree and the menu will come up like is shown in the screen shot and schedule the task.
  • Pick the computer and the schedule and then it should execute on the client machine.
    • Make sure that the option to log password at server before change is selected.  Then very shortly (assuming the task infrastructure is working which it should in the SMP 7 environment) the task should run on that machine and the password will be changed and logged on the server.
