Application Compatibility Filter

The Application Compatibility filter detects any administrative privileges that may be required.

Important

This feature only functions on 6.x OS versions: Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Server 2008, Server 2012.

The Application Compatibility filter leverages Windows Application Compatibility to determine whether:

  • An application has specific security requirements.

  • An application is a setup program or not. (Generic Installers refer to executables generated by Installation Software vendors such as InstallShield.)

For more information on Windows Application Compatibility, go to Technet.

The Application Compatibility filter includes the following built-in filters:

  • Administrative Rights Required Application Compatibility Filter - this filter tests whether Windows has detected an executable that requires administrative rights.

  • Generic Installer Detection Filter - this filter indicates that Windows has detected an executable that is an Application Setup.

  • Highest Available Application Compatibility Filter - this filter tests whether Windows has detected executables that require the highest available rights.

  • Specific Installer Detection Filter - this filter indicates that Windows has detected an executable that is an Application Setup.

  • Specific Non-Installer Detection Filter - this filter indicates that an executable has been flagged as not being an Application Setup.
