Upgrade from Arellia 7.1 SP3 to 8.0

Background

Arellia 7.1 SP3 is built on the Symantec Management Platform (Altiris) and Arellia 8.0 is built on the Arellia Management Server. Due to the architectural differences, the upgrade requires installing the Arellia Management Server and then migrating the existing policies and data. 

Steps

  1. Verify that the database requirements have been met
  2. Verify that the server requirements have been met
  3. Install the /wiki/spaces/AMS/pages/1153448
    1. Install onto a new server or on the SMP Server if there are enough resources
  4. Install the Arellia SMP Connector on the Arellia 7.1 SP3 Server via the Web Platform Installer
  5. Execute this Migration script on the Arellia Management Server (the 8.0 Server)
    1. Script must be executed by a user who has administrator rights on the Arellia Management Server AND has access to the Altiris server
  6. Select the policies to migrate over
  7. The policies will then be imported into the Arellia Management Server

 

Local Security Policies need to be created manually. If you need to pull over old password data from Local Security, please contact Arellia support.
